Founded in 1916 by the German Egon Wende, the café-confectionery shop ‘Taoro’ has always been known as ‘Casa Ego’, or ‘Don Ego’.
History rules and the sweets remain the same: a mixture of the recipes that Egon brought from his native land and the raw materials and tastes found on the island.
The terrace is located in the victoria gardens. The tidiness and precision of the whole structure is astounding. The gardens are arranged in tiered terraces with fabulous fountains dotted here and there, and a huge variety of colorful flowers. The views over the old quarter of La Orotava from the top of the gardens are quite spectacular.
